About One-Year-Olds

Your one-year old, your amazing, miraculous former baby, is now becoming a toddler.  They are beginning to use simple words, including ma-ma or da-da, trying to name a sibling or a pet or a toy.  They are very active, very curious, very expressive.  They love social games, such as hiding something and coaxing you to find it, and we play with them constantly.

We read to them all the time. We play simple games with them, watching and guiding them as they play.  Most play is individual at this age, but they are generous now, and like to share what they love with others. Our songs and oral activities reinforce sounds and their fine motor skills.

One-year-olds are wonderful, wondrous, willful! They'll knock your socks off!

What Parents are Saying...

We found Little Friends when our littles were two and one, and it was more than we could have ever hoped for. We wanted a small community for our kids, with class sizes allowing for more time with their teacher and close relationships with their friends. We loved that our children would be in an environment centered on kindness, love and respect for others and self, and Christian values. What we never imagined was that Little Friends would become our family. The teachers deeply care for our children, see their unique needs, and educate them in a way that allows them to shine. The families of Little Friends became our support system as we all raised bold, brave, and compassionate littles; a celebration of new friends among the children and those that raise them. They can engage in wholistic learning and fun, with music classes, the STEM lab, and our personal favorite, time spent in the garden. We recently moved but remain at Little Friends because, in Jacksonville, there is truly nothing like it. It is safe, warm, and welcoming, and for our family, it is truly a second home.
